Revival 2012

Don't Pay The Ferryman.

Together with the Drangdüwels

The Ini-Haus gig in 2001 was one of the greatest real-stage appearances of the P.O.R. ever. Nice place to play. We supported the Drangdüwels, a new band from Reinfeld. They play "Plattdütsch Dorfrock" (village rock in regional dialect) with Shanty traditionals and Pogues sound. The second gig in 2001 at Schlappi's only lasted for 3 songs because his old neighbors couldn't sleep. Our repertoire of lullabies was very limited. So we had to stop.

First Television Appearance

The P.O.R. have finally made it. After a superb steet gig on the crowded Kieler Woche, we decided to visit the Kieler Woche Radio Show FM 93.9 which was simulcasted on TV. People phoned in for music requests. So we dropped by. Our request: One of our own songs. They let us in. So "Bring'Em All In" was live on-the-air ten minutes before the station shut down at 1.30am. And while the DJ had some technical problems, we sang "We Shall Not Be Moved". Feeling like having reached the climax of success, we spent the rest of the night with some grill sausages on Falkenstein beach.

Albersdorf '99

POR verkabelt

Did we play? Did we not? The photo of Vry and Thomas Vollstedt proves: We were busy with serious things like connecting people with each other via the direct link interface cable (the mighty "croco claims"). POR brass section

Without doubt we played the day after the party on the Vollstedts' yard. Havin Fun with the Cable Drum (you will only get this joke if you speak German) and featuring our new brass section. They joined us because we're even better than football! (Aug 1999)

16 gigs in '98

It was a difficult year. Vry was abroad most of the time. Mexico and Copenhagen, Denmark. He only spent 4 months in Kiel. And I was in different places, too: Hamburg, Berlin, .... So we met in all these places and played there. The result: 3 big cities are on the '98 gig list. Sounds good. (December 98)

The Berlin gig

Looking back on this year, Berlin was a highlight. We played just beneath the famous "Gedächtniskirche". There is a big spot where street performers can show their talent and so we did. It was very crowded on this Saturday evening. Evereybody was going out. So how could we play loud enough? We decided to remove the battery from my car and use my small Fender Sidekick amp (10 watts) for both- vocals and bass. But we had to build an adaptor to fix 2 inputs on only one plug. Surprise: it worked- using some old cables which Vry had once forgotten in my car! It was not that easy to make the people listen, so we played our set about two or three times. Our company already became impatient. But after all about 40 or 50 people stopped. A group of punks even started to collect money for us though we didn't ask them to. (December 98)

Touring Again !

The first gigs are done and won in 1998. Especially Albersdorf was great fun, though Vry had stomach and a lot of study work to do. It was a great success though at first it looked like it would be a bit difficult with a very tough audience. In the end we stayed there over night with a lot of nice things happening. We played the set almost three times. (June 98) Vry live

Ulica is new in the repertoire. This Ukrainian traditional used to be played by the Berlin based Apparatschik, who have unfortunaltely seperated. We found the lyrics on a page of the Odessa-Net! (June 98)

Gas Station Gig first one in 98

Nobody asked for. But we played. Right at gas pipe number 3. It was a hot summer evening and Okkos sister Frauke was with us. We promoted her to a sound engineer because she had to carry the cell phone that transmitted parts of our gig directly to a barbecue party in Hamburg and to other places. One of the more unusual gigs in our band history. (April 98) POR als Treibstoff

Creativity break lasted for one year

After Peer-Axel's 8 week USA trip, there was only little time. At least we did one more gig, a very spontaneous beach party and bathing session with some music on a hot summer night at beautiful Falkenstein beach close to Kiel.
Vry then went to Guatemala. From October to March he was in Mexico, working at the Volkswagen factory. (April 98)

The Princes On The Run Radio Show

Live music, recorded music and a band interviewing themselves.
It was on Offener Kanal Lübeck FM 98.8 on March 29th, 1997. And it was funny in a way playin live to the audience out there. The sound quality was not the best but it was a bit difficult for Peer-Axel to mix and play at the same time. A special studio guest appeared, Arne, a friend of Okko, who accompanied Peer-Axel to Chris Cacavas' Chain Of Roses on his harp. Okkos Huerdenlauf Hope it was not for the last time. The radio show also included tracks of the old bands. Okko sang "Light Of The Moon", with Vry playing the piano, this was an old Strawberry Alarmclock track. All in all a good third of the show was live music in front of the studio mike. This is what radio is all about or should be, right?
So what comes next? We suggest you to invite us to your radio station. Would you pay the flight? (March 97)

some kind of songwriter orientated urban neo folk rock. Any other band around with this particular sound description?
