Handewitt
north peak of Germany, only 5 km from Denmark, famous for a first division handball team. This is where I live with my wife, daughter and son. The closest city is Flensburg: almost 100000 inhabitants, nice harbour, beaches nearby. It's where I was born in 1971 and where I work. I grew up in Satrup, about 25 km from here.

Radio
is my hobby and my profession. You can find some information about "DXing" (listening to distant stations) on these web pages.

DX is all about receiving distant signals - ham radio, utility or radio broadcast stations - which is my main interest. I have specialized in FMDX: On the FM band special propagation can only be observed on a few days per year. I'm also into medium wave DX, free radio, offsets (minimal frequency deviations), DAB, TVDX, a little NDBs and ham radio beacons, decoding digital modes FT8 and FT4 and checking LTE cells. As a ham I was active from 1987 into the 90s and still have the call DL2LBP. It all started in my early youth with MW/SW. Soon I realized that on FM you could get some great music stations from far away in good quality when there was tropo. And of course Caroline and RTL208 were a great thing in the 80s - Caroline still is. In the early 2000s I started to develop FMSCAN with maps and scans based on the FMLIST database. Since 2018, my project FMSTREAM has been online, with 78.000 radio stations and 150.000 radio streams which you can select individually.

Professionally I write and present regional news and reports for NDR Schleswig-Holstein (North German Public Radio) most of it appearing on NDR 1 Welle Nord (Soft AC/Oldie/MOR format).

Music
I like styles between songwriting, alternative country, americana, rock, folk, southern rock, bluegrass, guitar stuff mainly, but also some soul, jazz, some types of world music and electronic sounds from chill-out to progressive remixes. Check out my Top 5000 ranking. My music site features infos about my former bands and some solo recordings.
