Handewitt
north peak of Germany, only 5 km from Denmark, famous for a first division handball team.
This is where I live with my wife, daughter and son. The closest city is Flensburg: almost 90000 inhabitants, nice harbour, beaches nearby. It's where I was born in 1971 and where I work.
I grew up in Satrup, about 25 km from here.
Radio
is my hobby and my profession. You can find some information about "DXing" (listening to distant stations)
on these web pages, as well as about good music shows. I've invested quite a lot of time into the software development of
FMSCAN.org. You can create maps and FM/AM/SW frequency lists for any place in the world
with this online tool. It's based on the comprehensive databases FMLIST and AMLIST to which I've also contributed a lot.
Professionally I write and present regional news
and reports for the NDR (North German Public Radio) most of it appearing on
NDR 1 Welle Nord (550.000 listeners daily, Soft AC/Oldie/MOR format).
Music
I like styles between songwriting, alternative country, americana, rock, folk, southern rock, bluegrass,
guitar stuff mainly,
but also some soul, jazz, some types of world music and electronic sounds from chill-out to
progressive remixes. My current own band is Abraham's Zebra.
Among my favourite artists & bands
Counting Crows, The Waifs, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Indigo Girls, D:A:D, Billy Bragg, Lemonheads, New Model Army,
Great Big Sea, REM, Chris Whitley, Beatles, Crosby, Stills & Nash, U2, Chris Cacavas & Junkyard Love, Outlaws,
Allman Brothers Band, Slaid Cleaves, Bob Dylan, Marillion, Kasey Chambers, Nick Drake,
Foo Fighters, BAP, Loreena McKennitt, Werner Lämmerhirt
